Our speakers last week were Trent and Tre Sheppherd, who are brothers. Lectures were combined with a few other DTS schools. I struggled a bit with focusing, I think partly because there were translations in between every sentence since we were with the other groups. I was still able to get a few things out of lecture though. We learned a lot about the humanity of Jesus – considering Jesus in His human form. I’ve started reading through the Gospel books myself to dig deeper into some of the things the speakers touched on. Something else that stood out to me last week was that I have to take my fiery moments and put them into movement. Revelations should turn into movements in my life. And it’s not what I feel, what I write, what I talk about, what I sing, it is what I live out because of all these things that matters. I don’t have to wait for a spiritual feeling, to move forward in my walk, I can do it now. I shouldn’t worship just when I feel like it, I worship because He is worthy. Feelings will run dry, and I’ll be left empty. If I want something, I’m to chase after it, not just wait for a feeling or moment. God is present always and if I’m not feeling Him, it’s my problem – I’m the one being distant, not Him. Don’t wait for a moment or feeling to experience God or worship Him. Grab onto it now. He is worthy.
Treasure hunting last Wednesday went really well. My group met three young ladies who were hanging out down by the beach. They shared their stories with us (which included a lot of drama in their life). I was able to share a little about Jesus with them, but their idea of Christianity is a lot different because they grew up on some islands near Guam. Basically I just listened to them and got to know them. I talked just a little bit about my relationship with Christ, but I hope to meet them again this Thursday to share more.
If you are interested in hearing more of what I’m learning, there are recordings of my lectures for free to download on itunes under “compassion dts kona”.
I’ve been assigned to read Francis Chan’s book Crazy Love this week. I’m not even half way through yet, but this book is absolutely amazing – it’s rocking my world.
Please pray for me to have deeper understanding and revelation this week for things discussed in lecture, and also for focus and energy. Also, outreach fees are due soon and many of my team members do not have all the support they need yet. Please pray for the money they need to come in soon.
Give me the love that leads the way, The faith that nothing can dismay,
The hope no disappointments tire, The passion that will burn like fire,
Let me not sink to be a clod: Make me Thy fuel, Flame of God. - Amy Carmichael
