I had a revelation about the Word and prayer. Most of the time I read the Bible out of a duty – to check if off my list. Not anymore. I want to get addicted to the Word of God. The reason I want to be reading it is because of my outflow of love for Jesus. I want to fall in love with God, so I want to know and understand Him. I can do this by running to the Word and immersing myself in its truth. I have felt like there has been a brick wall between me and the Bible. No, there is just a thin veil, and I can press through with tenacity. Longtime zeal must be found in the Word. God longs to bring understanding and revelation. He waits for me to ask. It just hit me that I am so blind to my privilege of having complete access to the Word of God. It’s extraordinary! There is actually a book that is from the Creator of the universe! It gives instructions on how to do everything right. It breathes everything good and right and true. It has answers to everything. It has answers to gaining victory, to knowing the enemy’s tactics, and most importantly, to knowing God personally and intimately. Why in the world have I thought of the Bible as boring? It is full of life and abundant riches. How can I even do anything else in life when there are parts of it that I have not heard or laid eyes on? And there are wild, crazy stories in there of miraculous things – and they’re real! They actually happened! Where have I been all my life? What have I been spending my time on? When will I start living for eternity? I’m going to start pressing into the Word of God with zeal and allow Him to whisper and bring understanding and revelation. He longs to. Christians in other countries would do anything to just have a page of the Bible. They have risked their life by having it in their possession. I have the whole Bible and don’t have to worry about my government finding out. It makes me sick to think of how I have been so passive with the Word of God. After this revelation, I don’t think I can ever read or think of the Bible as boring again. The enemy had a mask over my eyes so I couldn’t see how privileged I am to have the Word of God in my possession. I don’t think the enemy even cares necessarily if we read the Word, it’s when we start believing it and living it and holding on to its promises and gaining understanding of God when it becomes a threat. Reading the Bible as I have for most of my life was not a threat to the enemy. It was dull knowledge that was dead. Satan isn’t concerned about me memorizing the entire Bible. He’s concerned about me living out one sentence from it. He’s concerned about the life living, not the knowledge. Having head knowledge of the truth isn’t what does the rescuing work of the soul. Yielding and giving myself to the truth and actually acting upon what I know to be true is what changes me. I want to press so hard into the Word of God and prayer that I am highlighted on Satan’s hit list. There’s a saying that if the enemy can’t make you bad he’ll make you busy. I have found that true time after time. The wonderful thing about DTS is everything to do with being busy here has to do with God. It’s being busy for God, spending all day learning about Him and pursuing Him! I won’t be held back anymore. Prayer. God has been teaching me a lot about prayer in the past few months. But I’ve had a revelation. I’ve been so passive with prayer also. Living in prayerlessness says to God, “I can do this.” Wow. I can’t do anything. I need to be in constant, continual prayer. God unlocks solutions when we come to Him in prayer. If Jesus is my best friend, I should be talking to Him all the time. Revival and reformation is found in prayer. Prayer is what brings heaven to earth. Prayer makes us fall in love with God. It makes us love others, even enemies, when we pray for them. Prayer frees. It is so freeing. I want to always be in passionate communion with God. I want to go through my days in continual prayer and conversation with Jesus, talking with Him all day everyday. I am going to pursue a lifestyle of radical prayer, of understanding the Word, of going into the darkest places with no fear, all because of an outflow of love for my Beloved Savior.
The prayer power has never been tried to its full capacity. If we want to see mighty wonders of divine power and grace wrought in the place of weakness, failure and disappointment, let us answer God's standing challenge, "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not!'" - Hudson Taylor
