Since it's Thanksgiving tomorrow, I just feel so grateful to God for all the blessings in my life. I'm so so thankful for my family. What a wonderful bunch of people who have trained me to be godly. I'm so thankful for this season of focusing on God and letting Him transform me, and I'm so thankful for the upcoming opportunity for me to serve and pour out to all the hurting people in Cambodia. And I'm also so thankful for you, dear reader, that you are taking time out of your day to read this post and pray for me. :)
The upcoming week is going to be a big time for YWAM Kona. We've been preparing campus for quite some time because we will be celebrating 50 years of God's faithfullness and people are going to start arriving from all over the world to celebrate with us. There will be lots of events happening on campus - speakers, worship, etc. After this week of the 50th celebration, we have only one week of lecture left to go before outreach!
Cambodia needs intercession right now! Something just happened there that breaks my heart: a panic-stricken crowd, celebrating the end of the rainy season on an island in a river, tried to flee over a narrow bridge in the capital Phnom Penh late Monday. Many people were crushed underfoot or fell over its sides into the water. Disoriented victims struggled to find an escape hatch through the human mass, pushing their way in every direction. After the stampede, bodies were stacked upon bodies on the bridge as rescuers swarmed the area. It is unclear what sparked the stampede. Police and witnesses pointed to the narrow bridge as providing inadequate access to and from the island. Hundreds of Cambodian people were killed in this tragedy and thousands left injured. The Prime Minister is declaring Thursday, tomorrow, to be a national day of mourning. Cambodia is one of the region's poorer countries, and has an underdeveloped health system, with hospitals barely able to cope with daily medical demands. Please, please be praying for the care of all the injured people in Phnom Phen. I get to go to this city and these people in less than a month. I pray that God will use me to encourage the families who just lost loved ones; the children left with no parents, those suffering in the hospital who need healing both physically and emotionally. I'm expecting God to do big things through my team, especially healing.
A huge prayer request that I have is for five of my teammates to receive the funds they need in order to come with me to Cambodia. Today was the due date for all the outreach money, and team Cambodia still needs $7,000. I don't know how many more days they can have to try to fundraise and seek support, but much prayer is needed for God's faithfullness and provision to shine through for them.
Blessed Be Your Name
In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Every blessing You pour out
I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's 'all as it should be'
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be Your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be Your name
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name
