안녕하세요 annyeonghaseyo

annyeonghaseyo - "hello"

An update on my time in Korea...

I'm now a few weeks into my year of teaching English in Korea and I can't believe how fast time has already flown!

I feel so blessed by the environment I have been placed in. I'm at a great school where I teach kindergarden through elementary. The Korean teachers are very helpful and wonderful, and my foreign coworkers are fantastic!

Here's what my school looks like from the outside - it's up on 4th floor:

I have three kindergardeners who I spend 3.5 hours of the morning with. They are beginners, so now we're working on the alphabet, colors, numbers, and other basics. We also enjoy getting to go to play gym!

I enjoy the mixture of architecture and nature found around Seoul. I live in the city, but right outside my apartment there is a hill with a walking trail.
The Han River that is near the church I visited in Yoido - which is the largest church in the world (population-wise)!

Having the early morning and evenings free gives me some time to get to know the other teachers or read some long awaited books - or Skype with you! Korean food is delicious! I love how healthy everything is - lots of vegetables, meats, and fruits are available. The bubble tea here is delish and a new favorite is the sweet potato latte! There are lots of sweet potato things here - even pizza!
My apartment

Yes, that is my SBS timeline hanging on the wall.. I will never forget that Israel and Judah divided in 930 BC or that Jerusalem fell to Babylon in 586 BC. The Biblical Studies continue, though I'm no longer doing charts!

I was blessed to find a great church right away! Some of my coworkers invited me, and I love it! New Harvest Ministry has services in English. I joined a small group to study the book of Colossians, and will begin in a couple weeks. I love that New Harvest is very mission and outreach focused. Last summer they went to Cambodia to encouraged those working at Agape International Missions (it's a small world)!!! They also do a lot of outreach to Thailand!
New Harvest choir that sings after worship time - so beautiful.

I love this opportunity I have to learn how to develop my teaching skills. I feel very blessed by this pocket of time I have this year in Korea. I haven't stayed for so long in any one place for a long time! I would love to stay connected to you through email, Skype, or fb - please keep me updated this year on any prayer requests or happenings in your life.
