To Gaze Upon the Beauty of the Lord: The Beauty of the Man Jesus

This is a post about living above the sun (while below it)… Looking unto Jesus, the Author and Perfector of faith… Lift up your heads, oh ancient gates that the King of Glory may enter in… It’s all about a great, great King who is about establishing justice and righteousness that He may be glorified, and that He may reign over His beloved in love and truth…

Jesus: the Man who was misunderstood, rejected, treated as scum, all because He did that which the Father asked, and even though He was no political ruler to save and liberate people as the Jews expected from the governmental corruption of the age, He was the Savior of those who would come unto Him and receive Him as King and Lord over their life, saving and liberating creation according to God’s glorious plan of redemption, not according to the minds of men or of cultural expectations. He was silent as a Lamb to slaughter. In His meekness, lowliness, and gentleness, He overcame the power of darkness because His love is stronger than anything. He is the Light. He is the Salvation. He is the King of the Jews and the Savior of all peoples. He came to set mistreated women free from cultural oppression. He came to defend beautiful harlots from misguided abusers, and then speak truth into their pain to bring healing and set them free to love and be loved in the right way. He came to disciple people to walk in integrity, breaking down their prideful ways so they could be used to bless their community and not merely take from it for selfish gain. He came to redeem the most sinful people alive. He came to sit with those who society rejected to speak identity to them: showing them that there is a way to not be held down by the culture but to be redeemed through “the Way, Truth, and Life” (through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus) who came to reconcile all people back to the Father. He came to seek and save the lost by stopping for the one in front of Him, by speaking to the multitudes and meeting practical needs, by making a core group of disciples and friends to teach and do life with and to train them to go out to share good news with others. He also withdrew from ministry from time to time to spend hours with the Father in prayer, avoiding crowds and distractions, so that He could connect with the Father more deeply to have everything needed to connect with those in front of Him who He was called to throughout His fast-paced and slow-paced ministry time. Jesus learned to move to the rhythm of the Father’s heart and He is the perfect example of obedience. He died in our place to save us from eternal death and have us enter into eternal life so that we can be liberated from earthly bondage and brought forth into glory as sons and daughters of the Most High King by being clothed in His righteousness. He sets us free for freedom to sing of His beauty, as He sings over us. He gives life abundant because He is good and His covenantal love endures forever in the hearts of those who believe.

Jesus is always the first solution to all of life’s dilemmas. Sometimes we see the reality of the pits of hell to truly know the reality of God’s goodness in the face of Messiah. Joy is found in righteousness and in looking at Jesus rather than just talking about Him. To Him we must go as we are sent to solve life’s most complex and difficult problems because He gives the answers needed in time as we seek His face. He gives the grace needed to tarry in prayer and thanksgiving through dark places. He shines forth rays of restoration and joy, and hope enters the world as we seek His kingdom and righteousness first. He is Beauty. He is the only Perfect One. He is everything and He is worth it all.

·      John 1:1/Genesis 1:1 – Jesus was, is, and is to come.
·      He was with God before the beginning of Creation. He is the Firstborn of Creation.
·      The Word is Truth. Truth is the Person of Jesus, God, Creator and Sustainer of all things.
·      From Him comes life.
·      People were created in His image to shine, and to shine in the darkness, which cannot overcome the light. But people aren’t the essence of light; rather, they are image bearers or witnesses of the Father of Lights, of the Truth in the Person of the Messiah Jesus. People are nothing apart from God, for it is His faithfulness that enables us by His Spirit to produce good fruit that remains.
o   God knows the rhythms of our heart, for He is greater than our hearts and knows everything. Every time we say yes to walking in Christ and learn to walk in love, then the kingdom is established and Christ is magnified, not by our works, but by His work of righteousness accessed by the power of Christ in us in the midst of our imperfections as we make our self available to Him.

·      He created people that we may believe and have life by walking in light, by believing in the One sent of the Father.
