I had a wonderful week back in Chiang Mai, Thailand,
catching up with friends there and surprising the children I worked with last
summer. It was a special time to reconnect and be back in another place I call
home. Time is passing fast, as my week in Chiang Mai is over now, and I’ve already been in Cambodia for a week now.
It’s quite exciting to be back in Cambodia after three and a half years. Battambang
is a quieter city; I’ve enjoyed my week of orientation getting to know the area
around the YWAM base. I’ve spent my week getting to know the other
international students who are here to study, and I will be meeting the rest of
the Khmer students soon as they move in today. My time has also been filled
with learning the Khmer language, learning more about culture, and biking to
cafes to scout out good study spots.
I’m expectant to see God move mightily during my time here.
Tomorrow will be the kickoff for SBS (School of Biblical Studies). What a
privilege to be able to immerse myself in the truth of God’s Word for hours and
hours and have 9 months dedicated primarily to seeking out God’s voice through
His Word. It is my desire that I grow in the knowledge of God and am
transformed more and more into His image, so that I can be a blessing to
the nations. I want to be able to communicate the message of freedom and life
found in the Word of God, and tell others about the beauty of Jesus.
As I prepare my heart for this season, I continually hear
these lyrics in my mind: “I want to take Your Word and shine it all around, but
first help me just to live it, Lord.” As I continue to be equipped for what I
feel the Lord calling me to do in the future, I know I need this season of
letting the Word transform me and empower me to live in the power of God’s
grace.
- Please pray that I will grow in the fear of the Lord and in the revelation of His great love during this season.
- That I will have focus as I spend time in my studies, and focus in lectures.
- That I will be a light to the people in this community, looking for ways to serve and speak truth.
- That I will continue to grow in my understanding of Khmer language and culture.
- That I will not just be about knowing the Word of God in text and head knowledge, but in knowing the Word of God in Person and heart transformation.
