One-Way Ticket to Cambodia

After transitioning home from Brazil, working this summer and spending time with family and friends in the Midwest, I am again preparing to go. I will be going back to Cambodia this September to do YWAM SBS (School of Biblical Studies). This is a 9-month intensive program where I will read through the Bible 5 times, spend 60 hours a week in study, and attend 9 hours of lecture per week.

I have been reading a book this summer called Killing Fields Living Fields by Don Cormack to learn more about the church history of Cambodia. It was exciting to read about the revival taking place pre-Khmer Rough genocide (this “reign of terror” took place 1975-1979), and shocking to learn that about 90% of the church was exterminated in the killings. Now, 35 years later, God wants to raise up His people in Cambodia to establish His Kingdom of righteousness and justice. I cannot wait to be a part of this and learn with and from the people there.

Please pray that I will have deeper encounters with God as I inductively study the Bible in this upcoming time. I want to know the Word of God in text, but more importantly, I want to grow in my love for the Word of God in person. If I merely know the Word but am not transformed by it, my study of it will be futile.
