Shine: Week 4

This week Exodus Cry came to teach lectures. The Director of Restoration spoke to us about being trauma-informed and person-focused, what it means to be a safe person, and the effects of trauma on the brain. Jesus identifies with trafficked victims through the sufferings He endured as He faced the ultimate trauma and experienced the collective trauma of the entire world. She also shared about God’s heart for adoption and restoration, living in covenant relationships and communities, the process of restoration and opening a home for those coming out of trafficking, and self-care for those working directly with the survivors. The Director of Intervention spoke to us about meeting the women in their place of trouble, weeping with Jesus over what breaks His heart, the vital importance of day and night prayer, practicals about street outreach to the sexually exploited, and the effects of porn on the brain. We also heard a message from one of the men of Exodus Cry about beholding the person of Jesus, who is the highest revelation and reality of purity. On outreach last night my group prayed over some girls and transvestites we met on the street. Please lift up those on the streets in your prayers. Next week we’ll be going to schools to teach prevention classes to the youth. Please pray for the prevention of trafficking and injustice in the communities here, and for the Kingdom of God to be advanced.
