I plan for outreach to be a season of serving for me. I want to live as a poured out sacrifice for my King in all of my actions and words. I no longer want to live a self-indulgent life of selfish ambition, but become a selfless bondservant of Christ, ready to put the needs of others above my own. I am going to Cambodia to serve the least, to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those who are in need, and to showcase the Father’s character and love. It is to be a time of selflessness, a time to be outward focused. More of Him and less of me; I must decrease so that He might increase. Everything I do is to be for God’s glory. I desire to bring beauty, joy, and truth to Cambodia. I want to constantly ask the question, “How can I love, honor, and serve Jesus today?” I want to have a foundation of tenacious prayer. I want to have an optimistic spirit with no room for complaining. I want to live out 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18; to rejoice always, to pray continually, and to give thanks in all circumstances.
Pray for me to be able to live up to this and keep this focus, through the grace and strength of God, as I serve in Cambodia. I can't believe in little than over a week I'll be there!
I took a spiritual gifts test, scoring the highest in exhortation (ability to bring out the best in others and challenge them to develop to their potential), and tying for second place in mercy (relating to others in empathy and respect; cheerfully giving aid to less fortunate people), teaching (explaining in order to make the truth understandable), and prophetic/perceiver (proclaiming truth using it to challenge, correct, and encourage).
Please pray for me to use these gifts to their fullest potential in Cambodia. Pray that I would give and be outward focused and share my gifts to bless the people I encounter.
The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor. (Isaiah 61)
