As much as I HATE transitions and times of saying goodbyes,
I am once again in a season of transition - readjusting to life outside of
Cambodia, visiting friends and family in America, saying hello and goodbye to
many, and packing for the next adventure: a year in Korea. I signed a one-year
contract to teach English at a private school in the Seoul metro area to
kindergarten and elementary aged Korean children. I will begin this adventure
in a month’s time.
Last year I watched a documentary called “Girl Rising” that
deeply impacted me and gave me a passion for teaching. I have seen the power
and impact that education has in the lives of children, and I want to be a part
of helping children reach their fullest potential and dreams.
It is my hope that as I spend this year in Korea, I will
learn and grow in my teaching skills, as teaching English and education is a
big part of working at a restoration home for girls who have been trafficked,
which is my long-term vision.
God has been showing me through times of transition that He
is ever-constant and unchanging. I can have peace in the midst of changing
circumstances because He is my Constant Adventurer. The place that I call home
has never lasted for more than a year over the past six years, but I find my
home in His heart. I go wherever He calls me because He is worthy of my
obedience. I wait upon God in expectancy to see how He will use this next
chapter to prepare and equip me for His purposes.
